BASICS CLASS

This year we are trying out a new format which will be to offer two shorter class of three weeks each, and one longer class of six weeks. This is partly because we are suffering a shortage of membership, especially teachers. Additionally, we hope that having three classes a year will bring more folks! We will be holding three week classes in spring and summer, and a six week class in the fall.

Girl Army's spring 2008 Basics Course will be held Sundays from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Apr 27, May 4, and May 11. The summer 2008 course will be held Sundays from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on July 6, 13, and 20. In fall, there will be a six-week basics class. We strongly recommend that you attend all of the classes. The fee for the course is $60-$0 sliding scale, and the location will be Suigetsukan Dojo in Oakland. Located at 103 International Blvd at 1st Ave., Suigetsukan is a ten minute walk from the Lake Merritt BART station. For directions visit their website or check the map.

In the Basics Course, we present a range of physical and psychological self defense techniques that may be used against a single unarmed attacker. For the three week course, we strongly recommend that students attend all classes. For the six week course, due to the nature and pace of the course, we cannot take new students after the second class.

We hope to offer a multiple attackers class early next year. Students who attend Basics Courses this year, or those who have attended an Advanced Course already, are all eligible to attend.
